  GREEN BUILDING IQ
Panelized Building Method   Other Building Methods
Panelized building methods produce a tighter, more precise, higher-quality home. This prevents unwanted drafts, high utility bills and moisture damage.   Homes constructed on site are exposed to water and humidity that can lead to warping, drafts, cracks, heat loss, mold and moisture, as well as higher maintenance costs in the future.
Panelized homes are custom-crafted with virtually nothing wasted. With little or no cutting of material on site, waste is minimized and recycling is easier.   Other types of home building produce more waste at the job site that takes energy to recycle, or clogs up landfills.
Panelized homes are weather-tight in 3-7 days, more quickly than most builders. Weather-tight means energy efficiency and comfort.   Many other builders take weeks or even months before homes are weather-tight, exposing them to weather damage, and resulting in reduced energy efficiency and moisture problems.
L & L Home Builders, Inc. uses the following green building practices on their homes:
Roof & Floor trusses are engineered to utilize less wood.
Wood I joists are stronger and use less wood.
 OSB Sheathing
Energy Roof Trusses for better insulation.
Wood cutoffs are all reused or recycled.
 Self adhering flashing around windows.
 Always use recycled Blueprint paper.
Tyvek creates drainage plane and reduces infiltration.
Design with computerized system so headers are not oversized or undersized and optimizer lumber use.
Utilize ladder backing for intersecting walls. Uses less lumber.
Blown cellulose insulation used in walls and ceilings for less air infiltration.
Windows, doors and exterior outlet boxes are air sealed.
Rim joists are blown with a closed cell foam insulation for less air and insect infiltration.
Panasonic Whisper Green bath ventilation fans used for better air quality, removal of excess moisture and utility savings.
